HARNACK HAUS HONEY Frühlingblüte

The natural spring blossom from the garden of the Harnack House is a purely natural product. As with all harvested honey, the sugar molecules will crystallize over time. This is a natural process. The honey can be gently liquefied again in a water bath (max. 40 degrees C).

Bettina Junkes has been running the small hobby beekeeping business BERLINER GARTEN HONIG in Berlin-Zehlendorf since 2014 and looks after the bees in the garden of the Harnack House. Her honey meets the standards of the German Beekeepers' Association. The quality of the honey is therefore above the requirements of the German Honey Ordinance.

AWARDED GOLD At the Berlin Beekeepers' Association honey awards, Ms Junkes was able to score points with the best honey in 2017 and 2018: the spring blossom she submitted was awarded gold. At the 2021 national competition, she was one of five prize winners whose honey was rated with the highest score of 5.0.

From 1912 onwards, a "German Oxford" emerged in Berlin-Dahlem. On the outskirts of the booming capital, the Kaiser Wilhelm Society founded its first institutes and thus the first German research campus. In 1929 it opened the Harnack House as its social centre. This scientific meeting place quickly became an intellectual and social hub. 35 Nobel Prize winners, as well as the political and artistic celebrities of the time, were among the guests from all over the world. The Harnack House was always a stage for the zeitgeist. Initially committed to democratic goals, it was later subjected to National Socialist politics and after the end of the war it became a place of German-American understanding as the officers' club of the US Army. After reunification, the Max Planck Society had the house renovated and modernized and once again made it a communicative place for international science. From 1912 onwards, a "German Oxford" emerged in Berlin-Dahlem. On the outskirts of the booming capital, the Kaiser Wilhelm Society founded its first institutes and thus the first German research campus. In 1929 it opened the Harnack House as its social centre. This scientific meeting place quickly became an intellectual and social hub. 35 Nobel Prize winners, as well as the political and artistic celebrities of the time, were among the guests from all over the world. The Harnack House was always a stage for the zeitgeist. Initially committed to democratic goals, it was later subjected to National Socialist politics and after the end of the war it became a place of German-American understanding as the officers' club of the US Army. After reunification, the Max Planck Society had the house renovated and modernized and once again made it a communicative place for international science. Dr. Susanne Kiewitz describes the eventful history of the Harnack House and portrays some of its most famous guests - from the democratic foreign policy expert Gustav Stresemann to Hitler's armaments organizer Albert Speer and the resistance fighter Arvid Harnack to the most important scientists of the time such as Albert Einstein, Lise Meitner, Max Planck, Werner Heisenberg and Konrad Lorenz.
